7.1.1.2 Create Menu Bar Extra?

Apple provides the ability for an app to create a Menu Bar Extra, which is a small icon appearing to the right of the macOS menu bar, and allowing user access to some of an app’s functions from a menu, even when the app is not frontmost on your Mac’s display (and so is not showing the app’s other menu items on the left).

For Notenik, creation of such an icon is optional, and is controlled through this App General Setting.

When this option is set to On, Notenik will place a small letter N, enclosed in a circle, within this Menu Bar Extra area located on the right side of the menu bar.

Clicking on this icon will reveal a menu containing the following items. Clicking on any of these will cause the corresponding Notenik Collection to be opened or, if already open, to be made frontmost.

This handy menu is meant to provide quick and easy access to your frequently used Notenik Collections.

Note that the labels displayed for the various types of collections are subtly different. In general, Notenik tries to use the Collection Title to identify each collection; however, these are not available for the recently opened collections, and so Notenik instead uses the trailing folder name(s) in the collections’ paths.
